Poxy dealers

Just had my car dealer on the phone whos having trouble with Subaru parts.
Was advised throttle idle controller (not TPS) was faulty so needed replaceing cost £90.00 plus half hour labour + covered under warrenty=hooray!
Two weeks later the after 1 wrong part delivered im advised the throttle idle controller only comes with the throttle housing, cost £1,100 waiting time 8 WEEKS!!!!

Surely this cant be right?

Since posting cheam have quoted £240 4 week wait why the diff in price.

Incidentally can anyone tell me the location of this
Is the throttle idle controller the same as the idle control valve?

Help i cant bear a third week with a Ford KA(SI)

chris it is the same, the one at the top of the throttle body, you think that is bad i broke something on mine, a solenoid switch which controls the opening and closing of my standard recirc valve, i rang up to find out how much and they want £309 for it 3-4 week wait, trying to source a second hand one for about £10-£15 instead, no luck at moment as the part is specific to the legacy TT 98 onwards.

my opinion is they are all crap, dealers anyway. unless i book it in with them they wont help me, and when i do they charge me ridiculous prices for some work that didnt need doing, or was not what i asked for....every time. i cant get spares either as they seem to have trouble pushing buttons on phones & fax machines and mine is a uk car!! if the justy dies because of it i will have to beat them with a stick out of principle. or maybe go fishing to calm down first, then slap them with my catch of the day.

Must just be Subaru
Other halfs got a VW and the service is excellent.
Had enough with them taking the car back on sat, things are getting interesting.
The sensor initially at a price of £90 was covered by the warranty the garage contacted the warranty people and they confirmed it was covered.
After subaru sent the wrong sensor 3x the garage decided it would be be prudent to change the supplier and eventually sourced the correct one at a price of £240 ish and now it may NOT BE COVERED!!!!!
I pointed out that they had already accepted "liability" ie it was an insured risk so the price was now irelevant.

Awaiting now a call back from 3 days ago and this morning.

maybe i should just get a mitsubishi instead.....

if they already said one thing then by law have to stick with it dont they? afterall their suppliers are their problem, not yours. thats why they are the middleman in the process.

come on subaru, you bunch of nob cheeses, send that fax, i am getting really impatient!!!!!

I've always found Cheam very good, parts manager i think is Steve is a top bloke, bought a plastic retainer that clipped onto the parcel shelf thingy he insisted he fit it to make sure it fitted, i know it its silly but he didnt have to and it made such a change from the surley twats you normally get.

Check this sh@t out

Got call back from dealer, original part was misquoted 3 times by subaru at £90, claim was accepted by warranty company.
Correct price £240 ish warranty comp will not increase as claim closed, and will not consider resubmission.
So guess what subaru wont pay even tho misquoted, of course garage wont pay, so who has to pay due to someones incompetance ME!

No

I know its only a small amount but if a get a warranty i expect it to cover all costs not part.

Rant over, popping down to see dealer tomorow to discuss futher

oops!! you dont think it was them playing with it do you?

im wondering if its my Big ends that are making the rattly noises, in which case how long till mine blows up?!! how loud was your bag of nails?!!

talking of which,
i very nearly smashed mine this morning on the way to work, slid up behind someone parked on a blind corner (quewing traffic), then this poor girl came round the corner behind me, (im expecting whip lash at this point) but no, she decided to miss me, go towards the other side of the road and aim for the merc coming the other way....she got away lucky i think, she managed to avoid a head on, and told me she didnt want to hit my car ever so thoughtful of her
i told her she should have hit me, she'd be doing me a favor!!!
i dont think she wanted to hear that somehow :?
the woman in her merc looked at me and started crying!!
my reply: "i'll be off then..."
