ECU Remapping

How much does mapping usually cost and where is a good place to get it done.
I was going to spend £900 on a new ecu with all the settings i need plus extras in case i modify more,
But i might settle for remapping if it is cheaper and can solve my over fuelling.

98 is likely an ecu swap anyway - a powerfc would be the way to go ...

Is the car an Auto? (from username) can sometime cause problems.

I can supply, fit and map Apexi ECU and come to Farnham.. for £800, and that includes the commander.

That is what i have found, but zerosports do one which is why it is £900, it is on an exchange basis with 2-3 day turn around, i will get mine through David Hendry cars or from zerosport direct as i have registered with them as a supplier. Just not sure which is easier.
Thankyou any way simon .

Piggyback alters the original ecu's inputs and outputs.. so you can increase fueling for example by adding to the original ecu's output at a set point..

other ecu's Link, GEMs, Apexi, Pectal, Motec are complete replacement units which is a much nicer solution.

jolly green monster,

would it cost that for a trusty 3 cylinder naturally aspirated beast (cough ) of an engine ?!!

im gonna need a remap after balancing porting etc.

can you do megasquirt/megajolt mapping?
how about remapping an original ecu?
what if the mota had bike throttle bodies, would that make a difference?

im learning too....sorry

I only do Apexi, Link and GEMs and they are only really available for the Impreza engines etc.. too much work load doing them to consider anything else.

Sorry.

i didn't see the group buy, at the time was not getting much time on net due to work and house.,
I was told that they don't do a power fc for the twin turbo legacy,
Any way just waiting to hear back from bob rawle on wether or not my ecu can have the ecutek 3 upgrade, as it is a bit cloudy on what year ecu they can do.

theres a few companies that specialise in RX7's and the 2x turbos's.
speak to them (check Retro Cars magazine - RX7 write up in current issue and adverts for them) dont say "they only do Rotarys " because regardless of type of engine it still uses petrol and turbos, and when tuned they still need the same technology to set up.......

i have been speaking to a few people, and the time it takes to map an ecu for twin turbos is a lot and if the interest in certain vehicles is not that high they simply don't bother, to make any maps available or replacement ecus, this is the problem my self and lots of other owners of the tt legacy are finding in the uk. it is fine for japan as there fuel is higher octane and the ecu's are programmed for 100ron fuel, so if we want to go for a jap ecu we will have to put octane booster in all the time which makes it more expensive than it allready is, but due to the increased interest in tuning for the leg tt ecutek have released an upgrade program for the ecu on certain years of the car, the only year that is not available yet is the 98 cars, bob rawle has come back to me saying that he will need to see my ecu to see if he can send a signal to it using som software and that will determine whether i can have the new program uploaded. that means going to swindon. :?
