Perhaps you might be able to help?

Hi Simon

I did try to PM you but your inbox is full!!!

I'm not sure if you've looked at my problem I posted up in the Technical Section but anywho I'll try to keep it as short as possible.

Started the Leggy Monday morning and immediately the revs shot up really high to about 3000rpm and then in a few seconds only dropped to 2500rpm, it was almost like the automatic choke had gone completely bonkers.

Anyhow I pulled out of my place and drove for about a mile or so and the car would hesitate under acceleration and cough & splutter a bit and I noticed the check engine light was on and I was about to pull over when the check engine light started to flicker and then went off again!

So I drove to work (another 3 miles or so) and the check engine light stayed off and I didn't really notice any hesitation in fact if anything the car seemed more responsive on the 1st turbo!!!

When I got to work I turned the engine off and sat in the car for a minute or so and then started it up again and it fired first time no problems with no check engine light.

So I reset the ECU and then did the error code reader thingy by connecting the black connectors and it threw up error codes 15 & 25 which are Fuel Injectors 2, 3 & 4.

So I added some petrol injector cleaner at lunch time but I'm not holding out much hope that it's going to do anything.

I reset the ECU again and it now is just throwing up error code 25!!!

So now the car is behaving as follows from start up -

When you first pull off car splutters and coughs and it will take a second or two for it to pick up and it does the same when you change through the gears.

The strange thing is now the engine light stays on when I start it up but when I start driving it flickers on & off very quickly.

I've been speaking to Bod about it and he thinks it may be an electrical problem.

Is there any chance you can have a look at it for me and if possible solve the problem?

It's now driving me potty and I'm afraid it's gonna blow up!!

Cheers

Rich

sorry. inbox cleared.

what year is it?

the symphtoms hint at perhaps the coolant temp sensor.. ie. ecu thinks the engine is at -40 hence the high idle and the coughs.. error code being either a red herring or it's not the coolant temp sensor..

If it is a 98 or newer I am able to plug into the ecu with delta dash and access

Simon

It's a 2001 Import mate.

I actually took it to a garage close to me today and they have diagnosed it as being a Throttle Position Sensor.

It's gonna get fitted tomorrow and hopefully that wil clear it, fingers crossed it works

If it doesn't I may just call on your expertise if that's ok?
